Class InformationIn this class, we will be working together to achieve 3 BIG GOALS for the school year.
1)75% mastery on all standards 2) Course Grade 75 or higher 3) Final Exam Grade 75 or higher. Class Expectations: In order for this to be the best learning environment for all students, particular classroom expectations must be followed. In this class, in addition to following Weldon Middle School rules, we will:
1. Verbal Warning/Seat Moved 2. Behavior Reflection Sheet/Phone Call Home (Completed in another location) 3. Silent Lunch 4. Interventionists Called Please note: Some infractions warrant immediate removal from class. In addition, to the satisfaction of success and achievement, appropriate behavior will be recognized and rewarded through our “Brag Tags” ticket system and Class Dojo points. We will also be celebrating academic achievement throughout the year. I will be in contact with you to inform you of your student’s success and if need be their decision not to meet expectations. Required Materials:
Bathroom Policy: Students in my classes take a class bathroom break at 9:44 am, after lunch and 1:32 pm. Students will not be released to go to the restroom during literacy block unless it is an emergency. In this case they can use 20 Class Dojo points to go. Grading: Grades are EARNED; they are not given. If you have questions or concerns about your grades at any time, please schedule a time to talk to Ms. Moody. Progress reports will be given throughout the school year. At any time students and parents may check grades at https://weldon.powerschool.com/public/home.html. There will be an NC Final Exam for this class. Your grade will be calculated as follows: Assessments/Tests 35% Projects 30% Classwork/Homework/Quizzes 30% Intervention 5% Academic Dishonesty: Plagiarism, cheating, and copying will not be tolerated. Any student who chooses to be academically dishonest will receive a zero for the given assignment, and his or her parent/guardian will be notified. All work submitted for this class should be from your own mind. Absences: Please make every effort to be in class EVERYDAY. Students must be present 160 days in the school year. If you miss a day, you are responsible for making up the work that you miss. I will have a packet of missed work in the “While You Were Out” mailbox including notes for you when you return to school. I would be more than happy to discuss any missed work with you before or after school. Any assignment due on the day you were absent must be turned in on the day that you return. Missed classwork must be completed within 3 days of the absence. This includes any missed tests or quizzes. Late Work: Students are expected to turn in work on time. In case of late assignments, the following grading guidelines will be used: 1 day late – Minus 10 2 days late – Minus 20 3 days late – Minus 30 4 days late – Minus 40 5 days late – Minus 50 6 days late – Minus 60 7 days late – Minus 70 8 days late – Minus 80 9 days late – Minus 90 10 days late – Minus 100 Tutoring: If you need extra help or tutoring, please just ask! I am available to meet with you after school 6th grade will have a designated tutoring day. I am happy to help you in any way I can. In addition, there will be remediation time built into the school day to provide tutoring to those who are unable to stay after school. I look forward to a successful and productive school year!
